TASK 1: DEVELOP OPERATIONAL PLAN

-Read the project instructions provided.

-Plan and develop a written operational plan for a specific operational area of your workplace or training organisation (William Blue Dining)

-You can complete the sample templates provided, use your workplace or training environment's templates, a template researched from another source, or develop your own.

-Submit all evidence and written plan to your assessor.

-Word count for the assignment should be 3500 words total (+/- 10%) deviation.

Project instructions

1. Operational plan focus

Choose one area of your workplace or training organisation and develop an operational plan for one aspect of its operation. The operational plan can be developed to complement projects and activities completed for assessment tasks in other units of competency. Discuss your operational plan topic with your assessor prior to commencing the project.

Here are some examples.

-Plan and run an event, conference, convention, major function or other one-off occasion.

-Implement new or upgrade existing computer hardware or software, for example, a POS, purchasing, stock control, accounting, database, reservation/booking, ordering system.

-Update policies and procedures and implement changes for a specific section/department/area of the business, for example, WHS, recruitment, training, workplace procedures, customer service.

-Renovation or refurbishment of a specific area within the business.

-Expansion of the business, for example, increasing floor space, opening a new outlet.

-Develop and implement a marketing campaign.

-Implement a sales plan to achieve specific goals such as increasing sales, revenue, stock turnover.

-Research and introduce new products and/or services.

-Introduction of new physical resources.

-Staff restructuring.

You will be providing evidence of the following for your chosen operational plan topic:

-Detail the processes used to determine resource requirements of the operational plan include evidence of alignment to the strategic long term goals. Detail the purpose and benefits of the operational plan to the organisation.

-What research was conducted into sourcing resources, available options and methods of acquisition suitable for the plan. Please include both physical resources e.g. stock/ingredients & human resources e.g. training

-Development of budgets and other financial documents or plans e.g. operational budget, cash flow budget

-Demonstrate appropriate consultation processes with stakeholders both internal & external have taken place to research, analyse & document resource requirements. This can be via recorded calls, emails, meeting minutes, Skype, Collaborate sessions within the learning portal

-Demonstrate appropriate consultation processes with stakeholders both internal & external have taken place during the planning process

-Detail the Approval processes for the operational plan via signatures, stamps & presentation of the operational plan to managers

-Identify and include examples of Workplace and organisational policies and procedures which impact the development or implementation of the operational plan, for example, resource purchasing, recruitment and training, budget development, expenditure approval policies and procedure.

Appropriate evidence could be in the form of emails, letters, minutes of meetings, transcripts of telephone conversations, posts or comments on social media platforms, blogs, and a bibliography of websites accessed.

Prepare a written operational plan.

The operational plan should include the following information. You may insert details within the operational plan template on pages 4-7 use your workplace or training environment's templates, a template researched from another source, or develop your own.

-Goals and objectives of the operational plan.

-Activities to be completed to achieve the stated goals and objectives, including timelines, milestones and deadlines. Include at least one visual diagram such as a flow chart, PERT diagram, or Gantt Chart

-Identification of human and physical resources required to complete all activities within the operational plan

-Establish Performance measurements for evaluating progress and operational plan performance.

-Write clear Key performance indicators (KPI's) for measurement of organisational performance using the S.M.A.R.T technique

-Identification of financial resources with supporting budgets for the project.

-Processes for improving resource usage and eliminating inefficiencies and waste.

-Contingency plans using the table provided above as a guide.

-Consultation processes to be used during implementation and monitoring of the plan using the communication plan provided above as a guide.
