Question: You will submit a 7-9 page paper addressing the following "For Further Exploration, Challenge, and Self-Assessment" topics from the Johnson text:

Analyze the ethical climate of an organization. If you are not an employee or volunteer of an organization, you may choose a previous organization with which you have been involved or you may choose an organization about which you are familiar (through personal experience, media coverage, or other sources). Respond to the following questions:

- How would you classify the organization's ethical orientation?

- What stage of moral development is it in?

- Overall, would you characterize the climate as positive or negative? Why?

- What factors shape the moral atmosphere?

- What role have leaders played in its formation and maintenance?

- What steps does it take to deal with misbehaviors?

- Does the organization consider both means and ends?

- How does the group's structure reinforce (or fail to reinforce) espoused values and ethical behavior?

- What inconsistencies do you note?

Evaluate an ethical code of an organization (students are not required to use the same organization covered in the first section above) based on the guidelines presented in the Johnson text. Respond to the following questions:

- What are the strengths and weaknesses of the ethical code?

- How useful would it be to members of the organization?

- How could the code be improved?

- What can we learn from this statement?

You should offer responses that convey an understanding of, and ability to apply, the concepts and insight offered by Johnson in discussing ethical aspects of leadership.

In doing so, you should develop a paper of at least 7 pages in length, and may leverage content from the assigned readings, supplemental readings of your own choosing, experiences, and class discussions.

Papers should be double-spaced, use 12-point font, and utilize one-inch margins.

When citing outside sources, you should follow APA formatting guidelines.

In order to earn the maximum available points for this course paper, you must:

Convey an extensive understanding of assigned readings in developing each part of the paper.

Provide a sufficient level of depth and content in responding to each section.

Provide a clear and cogent treatment of the required questions in each section.

Provide a response that is well-written and presented with excellent grammar and formatting.
