Measurement Theory and Method Final Take-Home Test-

You are provided two data-sets, one from male and the second from female (coded as gender=1 & 2 respectively) managers-that are collected to examine the psychometric properties (e.g., convergent, discriminant, contextual, predictive, and nomological validity) of a multidimensional measure of entrepreneurial orientation for use in retail settings (REO scale).  The measure includes three well known dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation-innovativeness, proactiveness and risk taking-but assessed for two facets of retailing function-customer service and merchandising.

Specifically, the data includes the following variables of interest:

1.  Service REO (rows 1 to 10, SM_CI1 to SM_CR9)

2.  Merchandising REO (rows 11 to 20, SM_MI2 to SM_MR7)

3.  General Attitudes (rows 21 to 26, GA2-GA10)

4.  Merchandising Passion (rows 27 to 30, SM_Passion2 to SM_Passion5)

5.  Service Passion (rows 31 to 34, SM_Cpassion1 to SM-CPassion5)

6.  Performance and Bonus (rows 35 to 38; the study was conducted between 2005 and 2006)

7.  Gender and Marital Status (rows 39-40)

8.  ID (row 41)

Using CTT-IRT approach to measurement, provide a compelling and rigorous assessment of the REO scale that in particular addresses the following but is not limited to them:

1. Does the REO scale evidence acceptable psychometric properties both at the first-and second-order levels? What are its psychometric strengths and weaknesses?

2. Does gender introduce a bias in the use of REO scale both at the first- and second-order level, or is it robust?

3. To what extent does REO predict performance of managers, and which dimension(s) (first-order) and facet (second-order) has stronger predictive validity?

4. Do passion and REO show consistency within facet-that is, does passion merchandising passion have a stronger effect on REO for merchandising relative to its effect on REO for service (and similarly for service passion)?

5. Identify practical advantages of using IRT for analysis of REO scale.

Develop a report in AMJ style that summarizes your findings, interprets the results and provides clear development of your ideas and skills.
