Management of a project, which in my case is the successful launch of the division, is nothing but the necessary planning, organizing and managing of the resources required to achieve the specified goals. In my case, I have to find the wholesalers of computer parts from which the basic parts can be procured which can be used for assembling in my organization. (Sommerville, pp.100)  My primary challenge here is to achieve the project goals while taking care of the constraints.  The job of finding the required wholesalers is also very tricky as I have to find the ones who, will supply the raw materials (here, computer parts) in the most effective rate. After finding the wholesaler, my first challenge will be accomplished.

Next, the problem is to find out in what quantity the parts should be ordered such that there is no shortage at any point of time as well as the parts should not be over stocked which will require daily holding cost. Here comes the role of operations management. With the help of operations management, I would calculate the effective economic order quantity, which should be ordered such that there is no loss, which has to be incurred by the organization. Also proper reorder point need to be evaluated after which the next order needs to be placed to avoid shortage.

After the ordering of the raw materials, their holding needs to be done in an indexed manner in the warehouse so that proper storage and retrieval can be done. The role of operations management is procurement of raw materials to the distribution of the finished goods. During the production of goods also, the job scheduling, (Meredith, 1998, pp.670) machine scheduling, queuing of jobs need to be done optimally. After the production of the goods, the goods need to be distributed to different retails for sale in the most effective way so as to lower the overall transport cost. So, I have to plan it out in an efficient way so as to ensure full operational success.

Next, I have to manage the information systems. It would require the help of IT engineers who will devise the proper configuration, which will be assembled and will be transported for sale. Sophisticated ERP software system needs to be developed for proper maintenance of the data and the records for daily backup of the production and sale. (Chen, 2008, pp. 200)The proper infrastructure will help in efficient functioning of the division. Daily regular updates about the latest trend going on in the market should be known so as to bring about the necessary change in the organizational structure.

So, as a manager, I have to ensure all this for the successful launch of the division. The planning made,need to be strictly followed. If I can ensure the proper following of all the plans then surely the division will be a great success because everything has been kept in mind while devising the plans. A proper organizational structure (a flat one) helps in gaining the confidence of the employees, which I will take care.
