ASSESSMENT TASK: DESCRIPTION
• To demonstrate an understanding of the manual accounting process in an accounting information system, students will be required to identify and record transactions and process them to the preparation of financial reports. This assessment is called a practice set as it is based on fictional data or practice business. Details of the practice set are found in the assessment folder on LearnJCU.
• This process will take place online with regular online submissions throughout the semester allowing students to identify how they are progressing. For all students, each new component of the practice set will start off with the correct data so each component will be marked separately.
• THESE ONLINE QUIZZES MUST ONLY BE DONE ONLINE AND NOT MANUALLY. IF NOT DONE ONLINE A ZERO WILL BE ATTRIBUTED.
• Students will also be required to write a REPORT TO MANAGEMENT analysing the performance of the business and provide recommendations to the owner suggesting how the business could be improved. Students are required to show a depth of understanding of the financial reports for the practice set.
You could analyse the reports of the business and comment on profitability, liquidity and/or solvency. Ratio analysis is not compulsory but is encouraged. You should be identifying links between the financial reports and how these issues might impact on the business. Your recommendations should include specific details as they relate to the operations of the business.
You should research ways in which businesses can improve their profitability, liquidity and/or solvency to assist in your report. The appendix must contain the financial reports and any other supporting information. APA referencing style must be used, including in-text citation. Any calculations, tables or further descriptions must be included in the appendix.
