Explain how group cohesiveness influences productivity

Identify characteristics of emergent leaders in an informal group

Describe how a team's morale and productivity reflect the supervisor's behavior and attitude

Perform the following tasks:
Read the introduction.
"How Would You Handle a Donkey?"

In your group there is a stubborn donkey who will never change his opinion no matter what; an entertaining but constantly chattering, mischief-making monkey; and a peacock who proudly shares his "I'm brilliant and colorful" status and struts around but gets little done. There is also an inspirational lion and a loving female momma cat who would be cleaning up and organizing everyone to make sure they had lunch....

In the discussion, you identified two additional animals you'd like to recruit to your group and what you might do to encourage helpful behaviors and cultivate leadership in the group. You also considered ways to control or manage those who were harming the group's productivity and morale.

Research the Web for team-building activities/games that could be used in your group to improve morale and productivity. Consider the five-stage model of group development in your research:

Stage 1: Forming
Stage 2: Norming
Stage 3: Storming
Stage 4: Performing
Stage 5: Adjourning

Choose one (1) team-building activity/game that would be appropriate for a particular stage of group development, and another activity/game that would be appropriate for a different stage of group development.

For each team-building activity/game researched:

Provide a detailed description (preparation, instructions, and so on)

Explain at what stage of the group development it would be used for and why.

Explain what you like about it and why.

Explain how you might improve on it as supervisor/team leader.

Provide your sources of information.
