Emerging Technology Report Information
Individually, research and report on emerging technology used in the medical coding or reimbursement professions. The technology should be related to an area the student has an interest in. The ultimate goal of such research is to improve the decision making process in the work place.
The written report is expected to be on-time, complete, and of professional quality. Above all, it must be referenced carefully using APA style. Use the following guidelines in writing the paper.
(a) Be sure that the topic is firmly rooted in the subject matter for this course, and that the paper is written specifically for this course. When selecting a topic, choose something you are interested in something that will help you out at work.
(b) The written paper should have an introduction, a body with appropriate headings and sub-headings, and a conclusion. A table of contents is not required for this assignment. It should be 3 - 5 pages in length (double spaced, times new roman, APA format).
(c) The research requires a **minimum** of three sources; one may be a textbook, but do not use other textbooks among the other sources. Remember to indicate the source of the data cited. Be sure to save your sources (e.g., copies of articles used) as the paper is written so that they are available if the instructor asks to see them at the end of the course. Not citing references is a frequent source of lost points on the papers so please be very diligent on this. (d) Be organized. Arrange the written paper logically.
(e) Use good sources. Professional journals, vendor web sites and scholarly sources are recommended. Avoid less scholarly sources like Newsweek.
(f)Papers must be turned into Turnitin.com.The results on your paper MUST be in the green or blue areas. If the results fall into another the yellow, orange or red category, you must rework the paper. Check to see that you have properly cited your references and have included your quotation marks. Correct your paper and resubmit to turnitin.com before turning the paper in for grading. Instructions for turnitin.com are at the end of the syllabus.Papers not submitted to turnitin.com or papers that fall outside of the blue or green areas will be considered to be plagiarized and will receive a "0".
Emerging Technology Presentation Information
A power point presentation of the research project is to be posted in the discussion board during the last week of class. The presentation should contain 15-20 slides. It should contain information learned about the emerging technology during the research.Grading rubrics are posted.
