Assignment Overview
SCM is a cornerstone of modern worldcommerce. For that reason, interest in the subject is well-nigh universal,among both practitioners and academics, and in private, public, not-for-profit,and governmental organizations.
Please begin this case by carefullyreading two papers; Chenowith et al. (2012) and Sarnovsky (2015). Here's anoverview of them.
Chenowith and her coauthors (2012)are organizational scientists at the not-for-profit RAND corporation, a "thinktank" that began life as a quasi-governmental agency. Their paper examinesinitiatives in supplier relationship management undertaken by the U.S. AirForce Materiel Command.
Dr. Martin Sarnovsky is a professorat the Technical University of Koice, Slovakia; a country that was a clientstate of the Soviet Union before that communist empire broke up. A chapter ofhis online textbook (excerpted here) discusses supplier management. It is adetailed, useful treatment.
Case Assignment
The Case assignment for this moduleis to carefully compare and contrast these two papers. What points do both ofthem make? What points does one emphasize, the other not? Explain. (Hint:Tables with side-by-side comparisons would be helpful.)
