CONTENT OF A WRITTEN REVIEW:

Bibliographic material and important information from sources may  be  recorded on  note book,  to  keep a records of  reference used  for study.

  • The central task  is to  sumrnari~e  the  reference so  they  reveal the current state of knowledge on  selected topic.
  • Important studies should be described  in  some details including information about research design,  findings and  conclusions. It  is not desirable to  provide extensive coverage of every  reference. Reports that result  in comparable findings can be grouped together and briefly summarized, for  example: "A  number of  studies conducted on job  satisfaction of nurse reveal." "Studies conducted by John A, Mathews reveal  that."
  • It  is  important  to  summarize the report  in ones  own words.
  • In  taking notes, be as brief as possible, but do not  omit important information.
  • Review should be as objective as possible. Studies that  fail to  support the reviewer's hypothesis or that conflict with personal values should not  be omitted. Inconsistent results should be analyzed and supporting evidence evaluated as objective as possible. Literature review should conclude with a summary, to point out what has been done, and what  are the gaps  or  areas of  research  in  a particular activity, which means some critical judgment about extensiveness and dependability of the information on the topic must be  done.
  • Direct  quotations must be recorded word  by  word  and the page number indicated.
  • Different views of  same  study must be  reviewed. Studies that are important for your research should be described  in more detail which includes statement, objectives, design, instrument for data collection, analysis and findings of  the  research. It should be  precise but include complete description.
