Comimg from Hartman et al. (2018) Ch. 3 Philosophical Ethics and Business

Section 1. What do you think are the two most important lessons/principles that you can take from this module and why? You should describe how each of these lessons could contribute to someone being a more effective leader.

Section 2. What is something that you found confusing or disagreed with (and why)? Please note, saying anything along the lines of “I didn’t disagree with anything” or “I didn’t find anything confusing” will result in a 0 for your grade for that module discussion board. If you truly don’t disagree with or find anything confusing from a particular module, then you could always discuss how something could have been communicated differently or where an additional example could have been helpful (and why).

Section 3. For this section please answer the two following questions and explain why you are answering the way that you are.

1. Find an ethical issue that you think a utilitarian and deontological ethicist might come to different opinions on. Explain exactly why they would come to different conclusions as to what the right thing to do is based upon their different perspectives. Be specific.

2. One important aspect of virtue ethics is that it allows to consider how we can develop character in order to live a full and meaningful life. What is one activity that you think would help someone develop a virtue associated with high character. Be specific and fully explain why that virtue would contribute to a full and meaningful life as well as how the activity would be expected to grow the virtue that you have described.

After providing your initial post, you should then respond to at least two classmates. You should note and discuss one thing that you agree or disagree with (and explain why).

Be sure to reference and paraphrase specific course readings in each post that you provide (including your responses to classmates). Remember to keep the Module Discussion Board Instructions and Grading Rubric (available in the Course Syllabus) in mind as you prepare your post(s).
