Susan R. works at the Bank of London (BoL). She is ambitious and recently finished BoL's Management Development Programme, a selective program for talented employees. She has been offered a leadership position at BoL, but she is hesitant to accept it. The leadership position offers her important career opportunities, but Susan knows she will be one of a very few female leaders. She also knows she will be expected to work long hours. Susan is married and planning to have children within the next three years.

You are a member of BoL's Task Force on the Advancement of Women, and you know well what barriers Susan is likely to face if she accepts the position.

1. Identify two important barriers that women like Susan are likely to face if promoted to leadership positions at BoL.
