ASSIGNMENT 1 - EFFECTIVENESS IN THE BUSINESS WORLD

Outcome- To Successfully Complete This Assessment, Students Should Be Able To:

Task-

You are required to survey the wider environment of any ONE of the industries listed in the Guidance Note using PESTEL framework. In doing this, you are to use only TWO out of the six PESTEL factors.

Select a current business news of your choice and use the internal and external influences of consumer behaviour to explain the events of the news. THREE internal influences and TWO external influences should be used.

Identify a current business news of your choice and explain the effects that any TWO forces out of Porter's Five Forces have had on the incident reported in the news.

Identify a current business incident reported in the news that highlights the importance of building a sustainable business. Provide an explanation as to what impact you think business sustainability factors had on the incident reported.

OR

Write a personal reflection of your experience with the use of Twitter within and without the classroom for this module. Your reflection should include the following:

• Benefits and challenges experienced.
• Recommendations as to how it can be better exploited to enhance student learning and for other academic purposes.

Choose any ONE of the two tasks:

Select a current business news story of your choice and use any TWO drivers of globalization to explain why you think the incident reported in the story was influenced by globalization.

OR

As an entrepreneur seeking funding for a new potentially profitable business idea, you are required to develop a MINI business proposal. In order to present your idea, you are required to create a Dragons Den style pitch using a Youtube video. The video pitch should last for Five minutes and should include the following:

• Marketing Plan
• Customer & Competitor Overview

The business idea MUST include a social or environmental dimension, such as: offering employment or training to vulnerable members of the community or delivering a product or service with green credentials.

ASSIGNMENT 2 - Introduction to Computing Skills

Outcomes -

1. Demonstration of the fundamentals of operating a computer system to restore, retrieve, analyse and present data.

2. Describe the ways in which information technology can contribute to increased productivity and enhance the quality of management.

3. Describe the scope of hardware & software currently in use and the technological advances taking place

Assignment Tasks-

Your assignment consists of two tasks (worth 100% of the total marks for the assignment).

Task 1:

A. To calculate the total marks for English, Maths and ICT

B. To calculate the average marks for each student and state whether they received a pass or fail.

Task 2:

To describe some benefits and features of word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint presentation software, in a report format.

Task 1: Spreadsheet

Use the information in the table below to create a spreadsheet to complete all Task 1 Instructions

1) Rename the first worksheet in your spreadsheet to Student Results.

2) Add the title Students Record at the top of your worksheet.

3) Format  the  title Q consider  font  style,  font  size,  text  colour,  cell  background colour, text alignment or merged cells. 

4) Use an appropriate function to calculate today's date.

5) For each subject  (English, Maths, ICT), write a formula to  calculate the total marks.

6) For each student, calculate the average mark for the three subjects (English, Maths, and ICT)

7) Using an IF function, output the words Pass where the average is greater than 40%, or Fail otherwise.

Task 2: Report

In report format, you are required to research, review and highlight the benefits and features of word processing software, presentation, software, and spreadsheet software.

Prepare a report to answer the following questions. It should address the following topics:
