You are pretending to be a team working for a prominent Sydney recruitment agency. You are wanting to conduct research into a particular company before signing a contract to be the company’s key recruitment agency.

Find a company that you would like to use for this case study. This could be a company you have worked for in the past, or one that you have recently been placed in for the Kaplan Internship or any company you may be familiar with. It could even be a public company on the top 20 global brands (see interbrand.com to select).

Apart from wanting to know some specific background information about this company, you are to focus on 3 key questions for this assessment. The learning outcomes for you to demonstrate for this assessment are LO 1, 3 and 5 found in the subject outline.

(1) Research the industry in which this company belongs and critically analyse the pros and cons for recruiting high quality talent for this industry. In other words, you would need to know how easy or challenging it is to recruit staff for this industry, and whether or not there is an abundance of talent.

(2) Then compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of this particular company: what are the possible benefits and drawbacks of attracting talent for this organisation?

(3) What is the organisational structure and culture of this organisation? What are the organisational values and approaches regarding ethical practices?
