Assessment Task - Report

Goal: To develop your understanding of the important components of information systems in business.

Report Question -

Informatics has a very important role in organisations and an understanding of how informatics can help an organisation achieve goals is vital.  In this report you are asked to identify key characteristics outlined as classic themes in informatics and relate them to existing people, processes and technology in a contemporary organisation. As this initial report will form the foundation of the second assignment report in which you are asked to analyse a case study of your own choosing, you may use the same organisation for the second assignment.

Criteria                

• Identify how the classic themes of informatics relate to various technologies within an organisation.
• Demonstrate an awareness of how the identified technologies fit into the goals of the organization.

The Report should be structured using the following headings (1500 words)

1. Executive Summary

2. Table of Contents

3. List of Abbreviations

4. Introduction (what are you going to do?)

5. Introduction to the case you are going to study (be specific)

6. Problem identification from the case (what are the goals and challenges?)

7. Application of the classic themes of informatics (identify each classic theme within your case)

e. Systematisation and construction

8. Conclusions
