Your assignment consists of two tasks:

Task 1 is the design and development of a website for a business to improve their marketing (worth 75% of the total marks for the assignment).

Task 2 is a critical self-reflective commentary ofTask 1 (worth 25% of the total marks for the assignment).
The output of both tasks will be submitted in a single report worth 100%.

Task 1: Design and Development of a Website for a Business

Kids-zone is an indoor adventure land for children up to 12 years old. It offers various activities for different age groups. Kids-zone offers various independent play areas like bouncy castles, slides, indoor kart racing and organised group activities like aerobics, dance classes and movie clubs. As it has a café on site, parents do not get bored.

Being in an age of technology, the management hasrealizedthat running their business on words of mouth is not enough and they need a website to attract large number of customers. The company has decided to hire you as an independent web developer to achieve their business goals. Your role is to, design and create a website that is compatible with all devices, is eye catching, user friendly and creates a strong online presence.

You should design a website for Kids-zone. This should include:

1. A clean and professional-looking interface.

2. A navigation system to link pages (minimum of five pages).

3. Awelcome message for visitorsand a brief backgroundabout the company.

4. Pictures of the premisesand activities, organised in a gallery.

5. A timetable of activities organised according to age group.

6. Business hours, displayed in a table form.

7. A mechanism to receive online queries from customers.

8. A contact area (preferably address map pulled from Google Map or similar).

9. A visual/audio prompt to draw customers' attention to latest news.

Task 1: Deliverables

You should submit a report including design, documentation, the code for the website, screenshots and evidence of code validation to Turnitin. Your submission should consist of the following:

• Design documentations: You should provide annotated sketch diagrams/wire-frames, colourschemes, style patterns and anything else that you consider important. Your report will also show how you have addressed accessibility in your design such as user input validation, utilisation of colour patterns for the visually impaired, short cuts and anything else that you consider important.

• Development documentation, which should include screen shots of the working website and theprogramming code for the website in plain text.

• Evidence of testing, such as cross browser compatibility checks, link checking and evidence of HTML & CSS validation check.

• Evidencce of setting up WAMP server to demonsrate understanding of how to upload files on the internet.

Task 1 is worth 75% of the total marks for the overall assignment. The marking criteria for this task is outlined at the end of the brief.

Task 2: Self-Reflective Commentary

Your second task is to write a self-reflective commentary about your website design and development techniques. This should be (400 words +/-10%).

You should reflect on:

1. Your website design and development choices.

2. The decisions you made as you worked on your Project.

3. The strengths and weaknesses of your work and how you could have developed it further.

Task 2: Deliverables

You should attach your commentary to your Project documentand submit one document to Turnitin.

Task 2is worth 25% of the total marks for the overall assignment. The marking criteria for this task is outlined at the end of the brief.

Task 1: Marking Criteria

Pass: A Pass submission would show effective use of HTML & CSS,a developed website with minimum five pages, responsive layout, wire-frames, video/audio prompt and implementation of accessibility features using web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG).

2:2: In addition to Pass criteria, a 2:2 submission would show evidence of research and understanding of web development and techniques, scope and site contents, typography, W3C standards, frameworks and importance, website specification and methodology.

2:1: A 2:1 submission would show evidence of a workable website, interactive functionality using JavaScript, site content full inventory, site design specification, site technical specification, and implementation of Geo-location using Google API.

First: A First class submission would show a fully functional website, evidence of project implementation and testing, screen shots of data validity test, functional test, usability test, cross browser compatibility test, responsive design test results, HTML & CSS source code and validation results.

Fail: A fail submission will show lack of understanding of how to design website using wireframes, justification of choice of CSS, colour selection, implementation of accessibility featrues, lack of understanding of development process, not able to connect different pages of website, incomplete or no attempt of testing process or evidences of testing are not provided.

Task 2: Marking Criteria

Pass: A Pass commentary would show limited research and understanding of how the project fitted with wider business contexts. It would demonstrate an attempt at self-reflection. It would be fully referenced.

2:2: A 2:2 commentary would show evidence of basic research and understanding of how the project fitted with wider business contexts. It would show a degree of self-reflection. It would be fully referenced and also demonstrate critical self-reflection and awareness.

2:1: A 2:1 commentary would show evidence of a wide range of appropriate research and an awareness of how the project fitted with wider issues, debates and business challenges. It would show a degree of self-reflection and understanding of the process of practice-research. It would be fully referenced and also demonstrate self-reflection and awareness.

First: A First class commentary would show a critical discussion of a wide range of research covering practical and theoretical, critical literature; critical self-reflection and an understanding of how the project fitted with wider issues, debates and business challenges. It would be fully referenced and also demonstrate critical self-reflection and awareness.

Fail: A fail submission will show lack of understanding of how did you carry out research to delivery your task, justification of choices you made for the implementation purpose, identification of areas of strength, where you master required skills and delivered at your best, areas of improvements, where you needed to establish more understanding of the implementation techniques, on basis of solution you provided, recommendations on future iterations.
