This is an individual assignment whose main aim is to give you a practical insight into the business strategy process at work in an organization.
The task requires you to conduct a case study of an organisation of your choice. You might select any local, state, national or international organization with adequate publicity available information to enable you to address the case study problems.
Guidelines for this tasks:
Introduction:
Provide a short account of the history of the company and trace the evolution of its strategy over time. As part of this introduction, recognize the organisation's current mission and goals.
Analysis:
1) Conduct an analysis of the organisation’s internal and external environment comprising its resources and capabilities, and the nature of its competitive benefit.
2) On the basis of internal and external analysis, what opportunities and threats are indicated?
3) Based on the opportunities and threats recognized , what strategies do you think the company must pursue to stay competitive?
Rationale:
The major aims of this assignment are:
a) To provide you with an opportunity to illustrate and describe concepts addressed.
b) To develop cognitive and practical skills by applying theoretical concepts to practical, organisational situations.
c) To develop analytical skills by analysing situations and actions which management might take in response to a given situation.
d) To develop research skills via in-depth research on this particular topic.
e) To practice and develop presentation skills via formal case study reporting.
Presentation:
This is a third year subject and a high standard of presentation is expected for this assignment. The given factors will influence your assessment grade:
