The Opportunity
The problem is that the accountant who prepares tax returns for clients utilizes a commercial stand-alone tax submission system that required a lot of manual processes. The accountant maintains separate excel file for each client. The accountant logs on to the system for each client separately to retrieve or upload excel files for each client to perform operational activities to complete tax submission process.
This not only is a very cumbersome process, it also takes a very long time to load various files and is prone to system interruptions and is not secure. Manual processes may lead to lot of errors and bad accuracy.
Given that the MR Associate accountants were using a manual spreadsheet without the adoption of tax submission software, there is an opportunity to research and recommend a new tax submission software for the accountant. Besides, the implementation plan should be explained.
The Scope

In order to buy new software, tenders from different software firms which specialize in taxation need to be sourced. The quotation will then be studied by the Head of the firm and the chief financial officer .The software that suits the work of the firm very aptly will then be shortlisted and firms which supply the same will be studied for their quotes and features that they offer.
Two firms will be narrowed down based on the most competitive rates and additional features that can be given. Another very important aspect is the training that the software firm will give the accountant and could certain special customization be carried out if needed. The hardware requirements also are very important.
The Finance officer with the senior management will have to look at the financial viability of the new software and understand the time that will be needed to transfer the data to the new system and the back up and the training that will be provided to the accountant .
