Write an essay about outdoor enthusiasts community.

Directions:

1. Think about the writing prompt and brainstorm for ideas. Review the prewriting techniques.

2. Create your thesis, or main idea.

3. Continue writing a rough draft of your essay. We will work for a few weeks on this essay and the writing process. Bring your work to class.

Writing prompt Essay: What does community mean to me? What types of communities do I belong to? What attributes exist in the communities that I belong to? What experiences have I had in the communities I belong to? What have I learned, gained and valued in the communities that I belong to?

• We all belong to many communities, not just the area or city that we live in. Think about who you are, your interests, your culture identity, your work, your school, your abilities, your goals and think about communities that you connect with.

Requirements for Essay:

• Correct formatting. This is a formal paper, so you will need to use a word-processor and set it up according to the formatting instructions in your syllabus.

• This must be "expository" writing, not fictional creative writing. That means that you have some kind of non-fiction target you have been given, something you are charged with "explaining." This is the type of academic essay writing that I am training you for.

• Length At least 500 words, about 2 pages double spaced typed.
