Attached is an APA template for reference, and partially completed copy that is commented by teacher.

Go through the 4 pages that are written and make use of teacher's comments to edit, revise, and expand it to meet the 7 page minimum requirement.

The Assignment
Find at least ten sources for this assignment, using the same resources as you did for your earlier assignments. Remember the minimum source requirements for this assignment:

• Must use only strong, credible sources from peer-reviewed academic journals.
• Your sources must include presentation and analysis of data, collected by scientific method (either by the researchers, or as a meta-analysis of data collected by other researchers).
• Your sources must be relatively recent (published within the last five years).
• Tertiary sources (such as encyclopedias) and less credible sources (such as sources written by journalists or other non-experts, rather than sources written by experts) don't count toward your required sources. However, you may include them as sources of additional proofs.

You may, of course, build more than ten sources into this assignment.

Hint: You do not need to use all (or even any) of the sources from your earlier assignments in this assignment.

• Use APA style for the format of your essay, your running header, and your citation(s)
• Expand your earlier work into a 7-10 page essay that follows the Classical argument organization pattern we've discussed in class. In your argument, be sure to

• Begin with a strong, interesting thesis that forecasts the structure of your essay
• End with a strong, interesting conclusion that motivates your audience to act (and/or to collaborate with you)
• Incorporate your source materials (using summary, paraphrase, and quotes), and cite your sources thoroughly

Classical Argument
Classical argument format is built around a simple pattern: establish your claim with supporting facts, summarize counter-claims, then respond to those counter-claims to demonstrate that your claim is stronger. In classical argumentation, it's not enough for you to be right; you also have to demonstrate that you understand views opposed to your own, and can respond to them respectfully, with clear reasoning supported by solid proofs.

Choose your topic for this assignment carefully. Classical argument format was originally designed for courtroom arguments; it's a strong choice when you need to establish that your position is the strongest one (or that your position is stronger than an opposing position). A good topic for this essay will have at least two clear sides, and one side that you can clearly demonstrate is stronger.

On the other hand, classical argumentation is also the format of polite, reasoned debate between social equals (or professionals). In order to prove your point in a classical argument, you need to demonstrate both that you understand your opponent's position well enough to clearly see its deficiencies and that you respect their position well enough to discuss the matter without belittling them or their views. Your topic needs at least two sides (yours, and at least one major opposing view), and you must be able to discuss opposing views knowledgably, without bias.

Hint: You should also think ahead to the Rogerian / Problem-solving Argument assignment, in which you'll need identify two sides to an issue and build common ground between them. You could use the same topic (and the same sources) for both assignments, if you choose a topic that works well for the two argumentation styles.

For example, a classical argument often comes before a problem-solving argument in the course of discussion: you'd use a classical argument to establish that your views are stronger, then make a problem-solving argument to show how you and your opponents can still work together beneficially.

Or, you might take context into account: in your classical argument, you could demonstrate that your side is stronger in certain circumstances, then use a problem-solving format to argue that your way is sometimes best, while observing that your opponent's way is better in other circumstances and that the two together make a stronger solution than either separately.
