When you read the language of Title VII, it prohibits discrimination based on race. It also bans discrimination based on color. Most people on reading the Act see this and think that Congress went a bit overboard in dealing with racial discrimination. That, however, has not been the case. A number of court cases have come up in recent years where the issue of discrimination based on "color" has been allegded within a racial group. For example, a cosmetics company hiring African-American models with light skin coloration, and not hiring those with much darker skin. This type of issue has become known as 'colorism'.
Write about in which you assess this as a discrimination issue. Should it be covered under Federal law? Include at least two cases that have come to the courts that focused on this issue.
