The video I watched for this extra credit assignment is a documentary about the largest high school poetry slam in the world called Louder than a Bomb! This documentary video showed participants and their stories, and participants preparing for this competition. What I learned about Louder than a Bomb! Is that it is a great opportunity for the students to raise their voices and speak their feelings and thoughts. For example, one of the participants spoke about her father, and her relationship with him. Also, another participant spoke about what a poem is to him. For this event, each participating team must compete with others with four solo poems and on four-person group poem. Instead of displaying their poetry so the audiences can see, they recite them. During the recital, the participants input emotions into their poems and enable the audiences to feel their feelings and emotions they used when writing the poems. When I watched the video for a few minutes, I thoughts this event was organized to teach poetry to young adults. However, after I finished watching it, I realized that the purpose of this event is to give a chance to these students to speak out in front of others. As one of the participants said, this event is organized “to give voice to kids who did not have opportunity.” I enjoyed watching this video and Learned that poetry can be a useful tool to heal the wounds everyone has.
This is someone's paragraph, and I need another version.
