The purpose of this exercise is to examine the underlying research that supports a chapter that you have read in a book that your read for the earlier reading assignment.

What we are interested in is assessing:

1. How credible is the underlying research?

2. How well does the secondary source (i.e., the book you previously read) interpret the original findings?

To complete this exercise, perform the following steps:

1. chapters of Informing Science: Volume 2, select a chapter or section of a chapter that has between 5 and 10 external article references.

- What is culture

- culture and informing: An Example

- Culture and informing science

Here is the link of the book

ch 19 informing and culture informing science

Textbook : Informing Science Volume Two: Design and Research Issues By T. Grandon Gill

2. These references can be found in the reference section at the end of each chapter.

3. In an MS-Word document, write your own summary--no more than a page single spaced--of the key points from the section you studied.

4. Acquire full-text electronic copies of the articles referenced in that section from the USF library. If PDF versions are not available, print the text to a PDF file.

5. Skim (or read) the references and add a table to your word document with three columns:

1. Citation: The APA-formatted citation for the reference

2. Credibility: How credible you perceive the reference to be. Factors that you might consider are the nature of the outlet, background of the author, and quality of evidence presented.

3. Fidelity: The degree to which the secondary source (i.e., the book you previously read) appears to capture what the reference actually said.

6. When the Word document is complete, save it as a PDF file.

7. Create a PDF binder containing your original document, followed by the articles.
