The emergency department in a major medical center has delays in the stat laboratory tests turn - around time (TAT). According to standards, the stat lab results should be reported within 30 minutes. The analyst conducted a time study to measure the reporting times for fourteen different lab tests over fifteen observations. The performance ratings of the personnel handling the test are also recorded in Table EX 6.3.

a. Using the basic - low allowance, calculate the standard time for each lab test.

b. What is the overall standard time for stat orders?

c. Are the overall stat time and individual test times within expectations? If not, what would you recommend?
