The assignment is to write a 3-5 pages argument essay (double space) about a current news story. I choose an article on New York Times. I need somebody with the a kind heart to do a draft on it while I study for my other exams. Please include at least 3 work cited!

The basic outline of the essay must be:

Title of Your Essay (which is not the title of the article you are summarizing)

I. Introduction

• ID general topic

• ID author and title of article, place of publication

• Provide background/ context

• State author’s basic thesis

• Your Own Thesis************

II. Summarize the Article

• Paraphrase in your own words (A specific idea)

• Summarize (Broad concepts)

• Quote directly (Phrases/ short sentences)

III. Your own response

• Agree/ Disagree or Agree/Disagree in part

• Add additional relevant point that author omits/ does not address

• Use Reason/ Explanation/ Analysis

• Facts/ Statistics (Source)

• Expert Opinion (Source)

• Examples

IV. Conclusion
