It's 5am and my father is up ready to open one of five convenience stores. After a few hours of working, he will rotate his time to the other sections to conduct business paperwork there as well. Meanwhile, my mother will make her daily run to the bank for the store deposits, and visits the shop for any necessary inventory needed for the stores. After completing her errands, she will head back home to prepare dinner.
Although this might seem like a fairly easy day for my parents, but the success came to them after a great deal of labor and patience. Both my parents worked many odds jobs prior to owning a business, which wasn't easy either. My dad dedicated a lot of his time to gain more experience and grow his business to what it is now. Although he might have missed a few events in my life because of work, he has done so to provide a better future for my brother and me.
Since I am a first generation college student, my parents did not help me much in my decisions instead they supported what I chose to do. I moved to a new city at age 18 and soon felt homesick, being extremely family orientated I just felt alone. The lack of one-on-one interaction made my life at the college more challenging. I frequently found myself having nervous breakdowns as I missed the company of my family and friends back at home. Just in my first alone I missed two lessons and an exam because I was involved in a terrible car wreck. This led to a poor performance, which was really hard to recover.my parents were the only source of encouragement that kept me going through the system.
Both my parents have the will and stamina to overcome any challenges that comes their way. Growing up, I watched them work constantly; they missed so many milestones in my life. They did not get a chance to watch my brother and I grow. They were always at work, and it was all for us to attain quality education that they never got an opportunity to have. Seeing them make so many sacrifices for their family and social life has been a great source of motivation in my entire life. Since I don't want their hard work to go to waste, I am aligning my goals and objective to ensure that I succeed in life for the betterment of the my parent and I myself.
From my parents' work ethic, I learned to set my goals high. I want to become a physician and I will not let anything come on my way. I will ensure I achieve my targeted goals. My parents have totally inspired me to overcome challenges so as to perform excellent in my education, gain medical experience and benefit the society through my knowledge and skills in the medical field by providing healthcare services. Besides that, I have gained much experience and learned my strengths and weaknesses by following my parents' footsteps. The motivation and work ethics my parents have cultivated into me will aid me to stay committed to helping patients and fulfill my duties as a physician.
