Project Managers often manage highly complex IT Projects. Some people feel that IT Project Managers only need to understand the high-level technology being used in their projects enabling them to speak to their team members and other technical staff involved on technical topics. Further, they should rely on their team members' technical expertise to provide them with information needed for decision making. Others feel that IT Project Managers should have in-depth hands-on technical knowledge and should be able to design and develop the solution themselves.
