Digital media has changed the ways ideas, information, and arguments in society are communicated both locally and globally. Individuals and organizations frequently use digital media as a means to influence individuals and organizations.
Deliverable for Project
Students are required to identify news stories which demonstrate how digital media has been used to influence or has changed core business processes within one organization or for one individual. This project needs to be related to an organization or an individual not an industry. Doing it on an Industry would be too broad a topic
You will then create a presentation using PowerPoint which interprets and analyzes how the messages within the digital media were used to guide decision-making. Ensure that this is done on organization or individual not a broad topic. If unsure ask me about topic
Also note if you do this on something too recent that has been in the news it may be that it is too recent to successfully cover the intent of this project. ...as change may not have taken place and if it has may not have been analyzed yet in articles.
What you are looking for here is something that happened that forced change and it would be something external. Please look at my examples( at the end of this document) as they are news stories of something that happened that forced change. If a company decides they need to do things differently because they are not making enough money....no that would not work.
Many times organizations are effected by news stories about them or an occurrence about them that is in the news. Generally it is negative as we know that forces change. How did this effect change related to digital media for that organization. Change as in core business/organizational processes. Basically what happened and reaction to news story that is digital media focused. Influence or change to organization, how analysis guided decision making and results of change. This is again on an organization (business) or an individual.

- A good example would be How digital media has changed business/organizational processes of the Boston Police department related to Boston Marathon bombing. For this project there is article(s) or articles about something(bombing in this case) that changed things for the organization and a big part of that change was related to digital media.. So you would then discuss influence on or change to Organization and/or Individual, analysis of How Digital Media Guided Decision Making and conclusion and Analysis of Results of Change Doing it on Police Departments in general is too broad.
- Dominoes Pizza had an incident where employees made a video that damaged Dominoes brand. So there are news stories about it(one is below) so you would then discuss influence on or change to Organization and/or Individual, analysis of How Digital Media Guided Decision Making and conclusion and Analysis of Results of Change http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/16/business/media/16dominos.html?_r=0
- NFL and domestic abuse is another. This has been in the news quite a bit in the last year or two. This is a good one now because action by the organization has been taken and there are initial results related to the changes. You would discuss influence on or change to Organization, analysis of How Digital Media Guided Decision Making and conclusion and Analysis of Results of Change. You could do this on just Ray Rice as there is enough or you could discuss multiple cases. Ensure you give end results of cases. This could also be done on NBA as this topic has made news with them as well and digital media played the same role.

- Nestle and Palm Oil.
