Project stages

A project may consist of one or more stages depending on the size of the project, its nature and client needs. Each stage has several tasks. 

Possible stages of a project are the following:

Stage 1: Preliminary Planning Stage 

The preliminary planning of the project will include (but not limited to) the following items

Preparing Project Information Sheet. This sheet will have all the necessary information about the project to start such as (client requirements, survey file).

Preparing project stages

Preparing tasks and subtasks in the project 

Identifying order of execution of each task within same discipline and within all disciplines

Assign engineers in charge of each task

Assigning man-hour for each task

Sending to the client the “Client Requirement” form for completion

Sending to client preliminary request of information (RFI)

Prepare preliminary list of drawings (Prepare what is called tentative list of drawings. On weekly basis you update the list of drawing. As approaching the end of project, the list becomes almost final. It is important when you prepare your tentative list to do your best to be as accurate as possible. Your list should be expandable, i.e. you add new drawings without changing drawing number and titles of drawings that were before in the list.)

Prepare preliminary time schedule

Prepare method of evaluation of project progress

Prepare transmittal form.

Stage 2: Preliminary concept design Stage 

In this stage we prepare idea of design of project after studying site survey and constrains of surrounding environments, develop idea to come to optimum solution of plans and elevations, prepare perspective shots, Then put this designs into presentation form .

In this stage preliminary design drawings send to client for approval of design

Stage 3: Design schematic Stage 

This stage start after we get approval of preliminary design stage, we develop files to put into more progressive form by refining design, providing more details in plans &elevations, provide more sections to be send to civil discipline, Then coordinated with civil work to send to client.

In this stage, the design is further developed until it reaches completion by having client approval without any comments to reach final design.

Stage 4: working drawing Stage 

In this stage, work will be further developed and coordinated with civil department 

Then send to other disciplines (electromechanical) for final coordination while we are completing other working drawing files of project to submit to client the whole working drawing package of architecture drawings.

Stage 5: Shop drawing Stage

In this stage, all client comments are satisfied and considered in working drawing stage, and we are ready to start shop drawing stage.

In this stage we go more detailed with files, to be provide in larger scale, provide extra files needed for shop drawing such as (floor pattern files, false ceiling files, stair details, toilet details, and so on.) in this stage coordination with all disciplines is to be achieved before send to client.

In this stage we provide all drawings necessary for construction of building.
