In "Competing on the Eight Dimensions of Quality," in the Harvard Business Review from November-December 1987, David A. Garvin proposes the following 8 critical dimensions of quality:

1. Performance
2. Features
3. Reliability
4. Conformity
5. Durability
6. Serviceability
7. Aesthetics
8. Perception
