A newly established bank, Potch Bank, has experienced a reduction in sales and profit. As a result it is considering expanding its services to the international market. The local market has become congested with existing competitors and new entrants (who are making the biggest impact). A recent report shows that most of the new players offer the same banking services with lower price plans. The bank executives have considered expanding into global business to increase their market share by implementing a Web application which can be used to market their products and provide invaluable services online.
The application will also support mobile devices such as tablets and cell phones that will interact with the computer-based information systems at Potch Bank. These information systems perform payroll and order processing that track the flow of the routine transactions necessary to conduct business. Some of them provide on-demand reports for analysing market trends, sales and business related activities. At each level managers have access to computers that assist in decision making. The information may be presented as data in the form of graphs, charts, and dashboards delivered via portals, using many sources of internal and external information.
The bank's organisation structure involves operations, middle, and senior managers operating from different levels and a team assembled to cope with the global challenges faced with entry to global markets.
