Introduction of the proposal

The proposal is based on the current project management status in Health Alliance (Health care network) New Zealand, there's a scientific and logical analysis to understand why the project is tended to be failed and what's the lessons learn and work out the solution to solve the problems. Aims of the dissertation are effectively overcoming the issues currently stayed in the industry and how effective project management is affecting the overall result in the industry in New Zealand.

1) The general management topic and problem of the research

The general management topic for the research will be outlined as below, the aims for the topic discussed in the dissertation that's outlining a clear picture on every aspects of project management life cycle, and the steps to improve the business performance in project life cycle. The detailed research topics are:

• What is effective project management?
• What are the components of project management?
• How effective project management influence the business performance?
• Current IT project undertaken in Health Alliance and the status of the project management
• Definition of Six Sigma and how Six Sigma influences the business performance in Health Alliance
• The power of sufficient enterprise resource planning system
• Supply chain management for health care system in new Zealand
• Procurement management for health care system in new Zealand
• Organisational behaviours and people management for health care system in new Zealand
• Steps to improve business performance
• How to manage to control the budget from the beginning to the end
• Operations management for health care system in new Zealand
• The strategies to overcome the issues

 Problems of the research

- Inefficient business layouts: Why inefficient business layouts slow down the information flow? How would that be improved?

- Ineffective communication: The power of effective communication in an organisation and how to avoid ineffective communication.

2) How the selection of the research area is influenced by author's epistemological perspective(s):

The dissertation topic is related to the project management subject and some IT issues, the detailing every aspects of project management that give the ideas on solving the problems states in the dissertation and the possibility to improve the business performance. Moreover, it shows the competitive advantage for the company who adopted project management and how to make it every success when doing a project in an organisation. The author has successfully passed all the project management modules and would like to have deeper understanding in the physical practise for this topic. In the past two years, the study area for the author that includes Supply chain management; Organisational behaviours and people management; Total quality management; Planning and administrating project contracts and procurement; Enterprise resource planning tools, techniques and applications for integrating the supply chain; Project risk management and control; Business process management system; Sustain program & portfolio management and Six Sigma etc, besides this, the author had few years project management experience which also contribute to this topic. The author is confident to demonstrate the appropriate point of view and has the ability to do a sound research on the topic mentioned above.

Furthermore, by addressing the issues currently had in health care system, author would like to get a better understanding of how to solve the problems that across the road when doing a project in health care system in New Zealand. The dissertation offers different approach to manage a project effectively in health care system in New Zealand, and raise further research on the topic states below such as i) How to successfully adopt project management in other industry; ii) Project program management ; iii) Accelerate business performance in project management environment; iv) Managing the professional development of a project team. Finally, the author also believes that the dissertation is able to show how to effectively manage a project, and to offer a logical path to a project management success.

In conclusion, the research topic is matching what the author has learnt in the past two years, and the author also wants to have a better understanding on how project management and business process influence business performance.
