In "The Effects of Crossed Leg on Blood Pressure Measurement", Lucille Foster- Fitzpatrick, MPA, RN, Anna Ortiz, BSN, RN, Helen Sibilano, PhD, RN, Richard Marcantonio, PhD, and Lynne T. Braun, PhD, RN, CS, have effectively been able to point out that crossing of legs at the knees tends to affect the accuracy when measuring a patient's blood pressure. Through proper formatting, the authors have been able to effectively present their ideas in an ideological and scientific manner.

From the authors' argument in the article, it is evident that the process of measuring blood pressure should be a well set procedure where the patient should feel relaxed in order to avoid any errors in the test. In consideration to this test, the article at some point has not been able to effectively show the importance of test in the diagnosis of other health care problems. Despite of all this, the authors have been able to add credibility to the article by listing other relevant literature materials on both aspects of the argument (feet should be resting on the floor during blood pressure measuring and blood pressure research does not control for leg position as a measurement variable).

From the scientific approach that the researchers were able to take, it isvalid that leg crossing tends to have a great influence on the systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The article has also identified the various precautions that should be taken in the procedure hence the consideration of the IVAC Vital Check® vital signs measurement system. It is evident that the authors' article is able to effectively support and evaluate its argument by looking at both logics behind the question at hand, hence coming up to a conclusion that blood pressure readings may be artificially high if measured while an individual has a leg crossed.
