Individual diversity is significant concept in organizational behaviour. People can be stated by a number of categories which are both inherent (e.g., age, gender, race, ethnicity, physical ability) and acquired (e.g., income, geographic location, education, marital status, seniority, work content or field). Many other categories exist than are noted here, and some may debate whether different categories are best understood as inherent or acquired (or a combination).
For this assignment, analyze some of diversity present in your current organization. What different kinds of diversity do you examine? Is your organization becoming more varied or less varied? What problems does diversity present? How does diversity affect the way individuals behave? What benefits or opportunities does diversity offer? After a concise discussion of your observations regarding diversity in your organization, recognize some of the best practices for managing and leading in midst of diversity. These best practices may come from your experience in your organization or from research. Based upon your findings, prepare down a three- to four-page paper in APA format.
