Factor Affecting Process Planning

Size and form of Raw Materials:

Process planning actually starts with the blank selection. The blank or initial raw material may be available in the market in the form of casting forging, bar stock (round bar square bar hexagonal bar). Sheet metal tubing etc. In the initial design stages of the product materials are chosen primarily to assure proper functioning of the product. Usually many choices are possible. The process will vary with different materials such as casting forging bar stock sheet metal etc. Therefore along with economic considerations material selection depends upon their effect on processing manufacturing problems arise etc.
