Due to huge population in China, it is really hard to let everyone get a chance to go to the college. Therefore, every student has to carry a lot of pressure since they are in elementary school. Because they only have the chance to go to top colleges if they are in the top high schools, and so on. And it is really competitive to go to the top schools in China. Hence, the only thing that all Chinese students need to do is study from age 6 to age 18, and other else.

Since I was from elementary school to high school, my parents never gave me such pressure about my school’s work and grades. Unlike other traditional Chinese parents, my parents had given me a lot of free time to let me develop my own interests. When I was 5 years old, I started to play piano. And when I was in middle school, I was in the orchestra and played clarinet. At the 3^rd grade in middle school, I started to learn the classical guitar. I never put all my attention to study like other students. Because of this, my teacher even talked to my mom, since the teacher still had the traditional thought that the study is the only important matter that I need to focus on. Apparently, my parents never agreed on that.
            After I transferred to another high school in Florida, all my habits became my advantages. I jointed the school band right after the first semester, since I knew how to play the guitar. And I was in the basketball as well. All the skills that I learned became a tool to make friends. I’m so glad that parents didn’t use the traditional way on me. if my parents were like any other traditional Chinese parents, I wouldn’t have chance to learn so many things other than studying.
