Do we really need an operating system?

Yes, we need an operating system for all the devices in order to run the application. We can't run the laptops, computers or mobile phones without operating system.

The software or the application in the device has to communicate with the hardware such as printer, drivers, keypad, ROM to run so this can be achieved by using operating system. There are so many operating system in outside world each company has their own operating system.

Based on the high performance, customer satisfaction and demand in the market will decide which operating system is the best and which has nice features. At present, there are three operating systems which are in high demand like windows, MacOS and Linux.

Windows: It is very compatible in all the devices and almost for all the applications even games also. If you see most of the devices are using windows, it's very user friendly. But it is not secured we need antivirus program to support malware and any other dump. Although the windows come with a free version of antivirus it won't support that much.

MacOS: "Apple's Macintosh OS is even older than Windows. It is the first ever successful graphical-based operating system, being released one year before it's Microsoft counterpart" (Bhadane, 2015).

It supports only for apple devices, it is having lot of shares because of its security providing by this operating system. When compared to windows MacOS is very secure.

No need of separate antivirus as this operating system include an antivirus which provides all the features than outside antivirus. Most of the people feel that apple operating system is far better than windows.

But the problem here is its very expensive and not all the people can effort for it. Whereas windows are less expensive and its available for common people also. MacOS doesn't support games.

Every operating system has its own features and advantages based on what type of application we are using we have to choose the right operating system.
