This study examined the history of Palestinian universities from their emergence under Israeli occupation following the 1967 War through the outbreak of the second intifada in September 2000. Data for the study included interview and email exchanges with higher education and political leaders over a four-year period and reviews of primary and secondary written sources over the past three decades.
