• From the e-Activity, describe some of the features you saw in the video presentation that allows easy access to databases. Most applications require a combination of programming logic and use data. Provide an ADO example to access the data from your program; for example, accessing data to display client data information. This application formats the data from a database.
• Imagine that you are computer administrator for a medium-size company and are responsible for creating proper access for the Human Resource (HR) Department. What type of files and access authority would you give to the HR employees?  Explain why you need controls.

"File Management" Please respond to the following:

• When a disk is formatted to create a file system, the tracks and cylinders are created. Each track is divided into sectors, which are usually 512 bytes in size. Files on disk are stored using clusters, which are a group of sectors. The cluster sizes range from 1 sector to multiple sectors. Compare and contrast the allocation of files using multiple sector clusters to single sector clusters in terms of throughput, access time, and storage efficiency.

• Redundant array of independent disks (RAID) is a disk storage technique that improves performance and fault tolerance. High performance servers tend to use RAID-5 which supports hot-swapping. Examine the benefits of using RAID-5 disks for systems that are data intensive. Describe some of the problems you foresee with RAID-5 disks.
• Storage area network (SAN), and Network-attached storage (NAS) are used to address the inefficiencies of direct-attached storage (DAS) in multiple-server environments. Analyze the inefficiencies of DAS that SAN and NAS overcome. Explain whether you would prefer SAN or NAS for your network.
