THE TWO DISCUSSIONS IN MODULE 10 WILL BE GRADED DIFFERENTLY THAN ALL OTHER DISCUSSIONS THIS QUARTER.

Canvas shows that these discussions are worth 0 points. That is because they are extra credit to make up for points missed on earlier discussions. They will still be graded in the usual way as worth 100 points, however, the points only count to the extent that you missed points on earlier discussions.

You can receive a maximum of 1800 points for all discussions combined, so if you have already received 1800 points, you don't need to participate in the discussions, and you won't receive any points if you do. If you received less than 1800 points on previous discussions, the points for these discussions will count up to a maximum of 1800 points. For instance, if you are at 1750 points after the first 18 discussions, then you can receive at most 50 points.

To prepare for this discussion, be sure you have read everything in the page titled "Internet of Things used in Massive DDoS Attacks", and especially the last article on that page written by Bruce Schneier.

Schneier argues that there are two options for dealing with the threat - allowing market forces to operate, and regulating the manufacturers of IoT devices. What I want to see in your initial post in the discussion is your thoughts on one or both of the following:

What do you think would be the most effective way to address this threat?
