- Evaluate the role of warehousing in the management of an effective supply chain.
- Distinguish the significance attached to order picking activities, its varying forms, and analyse improvement opportunities.
- Analyse the IT opportunities that exist within the warehouse environment and discuss implementation issues.
The student will be choosing an organization with a dedicated warehouse for doing their individual assignment. The student will have to now do a SWOT analysis of the existing warehouse and also identify new opportunities and new strategies to help the organization overcome the weaknesses and the threats of the existing organization. In the process of doing the SWOT, identify the following as to where it belongs
Information Technology, Order picking and find out whether it is a strength, weakness, opportunity or threat. Also conclude whether Warehousing is an advantage in the organisation's Supply chain.
