Barry invented the Safe ‘T' out of necessity when an aggrieved tenant poured petrol through his letterbox and set fire to it. Being in the locksmith business, he soon realised there was nothing on the market to protect him against further attacks. He began to sketch out the sort of thing he wanted and the Safe ‘T' letterbox began to emerge.

The letterbox is able to deal with fireworks, lighted newspaper and almost anything of that nature. If someone pours petrol in, it comes out at the bottom straight onto the culprit's feet. Barry feels that his invention has potential since there are some 80,000 reported arson attacks every year in England and Wales alone.

Question
1. Assuming that Barry can find a financial backer to produce and market the invention, how might the idea be tested out among potential customers?
