Assignment related to the Quality of Management & Engineering course.

The first assignment is requesting to develop an Abstract which must be submitted by end of this week to the tutor. However, the second assignment can be differed till submission within two weeks.

Please, the marks of this course will depend on the quality of solution of these two assignments (Abstract & Final Report).

You have been asked to write an article for the Total Quality Management Journal (Emerald). An article may be of a theoretical nature, be based on practical experience, report a case study situation or report experimental results. The prime requirement will be that it:

a. is directly relevant to Quality Management or Quality Engineering topics;

b. is within the scope of the module coverage

You may choose any of the following themes from the given list. If you wish to propose a separate theme which is not given in the list, then that is also acceptable as long as it captures the essence of Quality Management/Engineering principles.

• A critique of ISO 9001 Quality Management System standard
• Implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives within Small and Medium Sized Enterprises
• Quality and its impact on Supply Chain Management
• Design of Experiments for Service Industry
• Design of Experiments within Food Industry - A Systematic Review of Literature
• Quality Costing in the Public Sector: A Systematic Review of Literature
• Total Quality Management in SMEs: A Systematic Review of Literature

The article should be around 3000 words in length (excluding abstract). Figures and Tables should be of clear quality and they should be numbered consecutively with Roman Numerals. The titles for both figures and tables should be provided. References must be in Harvard Style and carefully checked for completeness, accuracy and consistency.
For Journals: surname, initials, (year), "article title", Journal title, Volume number, Issue number, pages.

All assessments should be submitted in accordance with University regulations, giving full name, student registration number, programme details and course details. It is advised to submit your coursework to the School office. All assessments should be submitted no later than the dates given above.

Extensions may be granted in two circumstances ONLY:

(i) if for medical reasons you are unable to submit a piece of work by the deadline - any such requests for an extension must be supported by a doctor's note; or

(ii) in the case of extenuating personal circumstances - again something must be submitted in writing to support any request for an extension
