Assignment: Contingency Planning
In this assignment, you will learn how to conduct Internet searches to identify and research specific information. You will use a search engine such as Google or Bing to identify a Fortune 500 company and evaluate its website according to the best practices of web design.
Scenario:
From the current Fortune 500 companies list, select any company that can be accessed using a search engine within your Internet browser. Then, locate the corporate or primary website for that company. Using the information presented in your textbook along with other resources as the basis of your evaluation, explore and evaluate the company's website and the style used.
Tasks:
On the basis of your evaluation, create a 2- to 3-page paper addressing the following points:
• Provide a short summary of the company.
• Explain whether the website's style appeals to the target audience. Support your responses with examples.
• Describe the styles used and provide an original example for the following components:
o Page layout
o Color and graphics
o Multimedia (if applicable)
o Content presentation
• Recommend at least two improvements for the website.
Note: Your paper should utilize at least three scholarly or professional sources (beyond your textbook). Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources (i.e., in APA format); and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
