Please watch this video: How Does Google Make Money? This video explains how Google uses information to make money. Google collects information from websites and adds it to its search engine. You type information into Google search and Gmail, and Google stores that information about you. Android devices send information to Google that is used to determine traffic patterns for Google Maps and to send you ads for businesses based on your location. Although Google is a technology company, it makes money from information, as this video explains. In your paper for this week, you will explore how other companies use information strategically.

Chapter 1 and the videos above describe Porter's Five Competitive Forces model. Use the search term "information sharing in a supply chain" to find 2 peer-reviewed articles from academic journals about the use of information in supply chains or value chains. Write a summary of each article and explain how the use of information in each article relates to Porter's Five Competitive Forces model. Discuss how information can be used strategically, based on the example(s) in the articles. Your paper should be in APA format and 3-4 pages, not counting the title page and reference pages. Make sure you have in-text citations and a reference page.

• Report on outsourcing and insourcing by Deloitte Consulting describes the sourcing trends that are important for IT.

Find 2 peer-reviewed articles from academic journals on information technology sourcing. Summarize each article and compare and contrast the sourcing approaches in each article. Identify the factors that were important in each sourcing strategy and whether the sourcing decision was strategic for the long term or tactical for the short term. Which strategy did you think was more effective and why? Your paper should be in APA format and 3-4 pages, not counting the title page and reference pages. Read the Starbucks' case study. This case study uses Porter's Value Chain and Five Forces models and a SWOT (strengths-weaknesses-opportunities) analysis to develop strategic recommendations. On page 7 of the Starbuck's case study there are 10 recommendations. Choose 3 of the recommendations and identify how IT could be used as part of the implementation of that recommendation. Research in the library how other companies have done something similar for each of your 3 recommendations. Your paper should be at least 3 pages, not counting the title and reference pages. The paper must include at least 3 references from peer-reviewed articles in academic journals. Make sure you have in-text citations and a reference page. Week 4 IS Strategic Analysis Presentation

Review the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analyses for all six cases here. Pick one of the six cases and read the complete business plan. Then, create a professional presentation in Kaltura suggesting how IT could be used to enhance the company's strengths, lessen the company's weaknesses, take advantage of the company's opportunities, and / or mitigate the company's threats. The same IT solution(s) might accomplish more than one objective in the business plan.

In your presentation, please copy the SWOT analysis from the case and paste that on one of the slides. The presentation should include 2-4 slides to explain the case including an analysis of the characteristics of the institution in the case study. Please explain specifically how IT solves a problem and / or enables new options for the company. The total presentation should be about 8-10 slides, not including the title and reference slides. The reference slide should be in APA format. Internet references, as well as peer-reviewed journal articles, are fine. The references should include examples of other companies that have done something similar to support your recommendations. In-text citations are not required for this presentation. Your presentation should include a voice-over to explain your slides. Please submit your Kaltura video via the assignment link and also include a link to it on the discussion board. The rubric for this assignment can be viewed when clicking on the assignment link.
