Applied Research Project Assignment

Details

Statement of the Problem

The first step in research methodology is to identify and articulate a statement of the problem. In the Unit 1 discussions, you are practicing how to evaluate the difference between the problem and the symptoms of the problem. Often, managers and leaders spend a great deal of time and energy putting out organizational fires. Yet these fires are just the symptoms of the problem. What is missing is a way to properly address the underlying organizational problem. Your applied research project is designed with a research methodology to properly investigate the problem. In your MSML educational journey, you have developed unique strengths and interests in the study of management and leadership. Your capstone applied research project offers the opportunity to perform and write a capstone research paper. In this paper, you will synthesize knowledge and understanding by focusing on an organizational problem that is relevant in your career path. Return to the lessons learned in your previous MSML courses and draw from the knowledge you have already gained from specific texts and readings. Next, add to your knowledge by digging deeper into the body of management literature in peer-reviewed journal articles found in the Library.

The construction and development of your applied research project in GM599 is ongoing. It began in Unit 1 and will continue to expand and improve through Unit 6. Moving forward in each unit, you will be adding new sub-heading sections to expand the research process. At the same time, you will be responding to comments and critiques from your professor in order to make improvements in past sections.

Step 1: Prepare by studying the Reading assigned to this unit. Practice specific research concepts by engaging in unit discussions.

Step 2: Design your applied research project in the following manner.

Title Page: Develop a unique title for the paper that captures the essence of the problem that is under investigation.

Sub-Heading Sections

- Introduction
- Statement of the Problem
- Intended Audience
- Value to the Audience
- Summary
- Reference Page
