An analysis of two potential solutions - (1) Utilization of an encrypted satellite phone capable of receiving conference calls when an operative is in "the field and (2) Changing requirements for the attending of meetings by field operatives - found that the utilization of encrypted satellite phones best meets our chosen criteria in cost, quality, security, visibility and utility. It is therefore our recommendation that we utilized encrypted satellite phones for meetings with operatives moving forward.

Problem Statement

Mission Impossible Solutions (MIS) is an international corporation that specializes in accomplishing impossible missions of international significance in hundreds of countries across the world. Due to the international nature of many company missions, a large number of employees and independent contractors are involved in each mission. At any given time, employees and independent contractors working on the same project can be located in various countries around the world. Consequently, finding a forum for conducting meetings in which all employees and contractors working on a particular project can attend is challenging. Conference calls have the problem of not allowing each member involved in the meeting to see each other, whereas some online meeting forums require the presence of mobile Internet or Wi-Fi. However, Wi-Fi can sometimes create delays or distortions that make communication even more challenging. Moreover, at times, operatives of Mission Impossible Solutions must remain undiscovered; connecting to public Internet networks to contact the main office could potentially damage the clandestine nature of their identities and missions. Therefore, Mission Impossible Solutions is seeking a better solution to the problem of conducting meetings with operatives in multiple countries, with little or no access to Wi-Fi Internet. Mission Impossible Solutions has states that any acceptable solution to this problem must include the following criteria:

(1) a mechanism for operatives to connect to a meeting without the use of public Internet networks,

(2) a solution that eliminates the delays, distortions and echoes associated with slow Internet connections, and

(3) a mechanism by which all members in the meeting can hear each other. It would also be desirable for all individuals participating in a meeting to be able to see each other on a video screen, but this is not a requirement.
