Your task is to critically discuss and evaluate the effect of process technology and e-business on an organisation of your choice. You should evaluate the effect on their logistical and operational capacity and capability.

Your answer should include the initial impact on the chosen company and how, if relevant, this is likely to develop in future years.

This is an individual assignment and must be presented in a report format (2,000 words). It is important that your report is properly structured. Also, as this is an academic paper, you should draw on contemporary literature to support your paper. Remember that this individual report accounts for 50% of your module assessment. Hence, bad performance will have a big impact on this module. An executive summary is not necessary in a report of this size.

Your report should include references to appropriate process technology and e-business literature (textbooks, journals and websites). Care should be taken when consulting websites as they are not all equally authoritative (for example Wikipedia is not peer-reviewed; therefore is not considered an academic reference website). A minimum of 5 different academic references must be cited, but a well-researched report is likely to cite many more.

Please adopt a professional looking approach as this will be good practice for future assignments or reports. The following points should be noted:

1. Start with a front page that clearly shows your name, student number, module details, title and word count.

2. The next page should be a contents list showing everything that is included and which page number it can be found on.

3. Introduction - This will introduce your work to the reader and should explain what the assignment is about. For this assignment you could firstly explain what process technology and e-business are and use a source from one of the text books to support this. You should also introduce your chosen company, who they are and what they do. As a guide this should only use around 300 words.

4. Main Body - This is where you will start to identify how your chosen business uses process technology and e-business to enhance and improve what it does in terms of operations capacity and capability. Depending on the company used, you could critically evaluate how they have developed their use of this, integrated the technology or what they are looking to do next. Please try to refer to the slides on blackboard as previously announced. Use sub-headings to break down this section and be critical of how process technology and e-business can or has added value to the business but also the pitfalls of this.

5. Conclusion - Here you should comment on the topic and how this is now being adopted by all organisations as consumer demands for products and services, and the way in which they are provided and made available, is constantly being adapted and improved.

6. Reference list - I expect to see a minimum of 6 sources used correctly i.e. cited and referenced using the Harvard style.
