Your fourth and final paper assignment:

1 In light of what you have learned about social contracts and the American social contract, in particular, this semester, should greater economic equality across all classes exist in the United States? Defend your answer.

To do well on this assignment, your paper must include the following:

A. Define what a social contract is in general terms;

B. Define specifically the American social contract;

C. Define economic inequality and any societal ills it may or may not cause;

D. Discuss why you agree or disagree with greater economic equality in the United States;

E. Defense of your idea(s) must take the form of an argument(s). In other words, no unsubstantiated opinions or beliefs should be expressed;

F. Provide a minimum of six (6) references to support your argument(s) from in class readings and your own research;

G. References must be academic in nature;

H. Meet the formatting requirements outlined below.

Your assignments must be typed, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and in "Times," twelve point font. Your papers should not exceed eight (8) pages in length, including your reference page. While there is no minimum for the length of this assignment, you should make sure you meet all criteria, regardless of the length of your paper. No cover or summary page is necessary, even if dictated by the style guide you are using.
