You own a small construction company which specializes in finishing houses. Another contractor has subcontracted to you the job of finishing a house. The foundation, basic framework, and plumbing have been completed. Upon agreeing to terms, you sit down and analyze the problem confronting you. Assuming carpenters and electricians are available, you can simultaneously install the wiring (2 workers for 3 days), lay the floor (1 worker for 4 days), hang the doors (2 workers for 1 day) and finish the exterior (3 workers for 5 days). After the wiring has been installed, you can finish the interior walls (3 workers for 3 days) and then after that hook up the electrical fixtures (2 workers for i day). Once the doors are hung, you can install the windows (2 workers for 2 days). As soon as the exterior is finished you can make the necessary hookups to bring electricity in from the existing power lines (2 workers for 1day).

You are faced with the following constraints. Electricians and carpenters are not allowed to work in areas other than those specifically related to their trade. The electricians will perform the following activities: install electrical wiring, hook up electrical fixt hook up to existing power line s; the carpenters will perform the rest of activities.

1) Prepare an AON network diagram and determine the critical path by computing Early Start, Early Finish, Late Start, Late Finish and float.

2) Prepare daily basis assuming all activities are scheduled at their early start time (i.e each activity performed as soon as possible and project completing in minimum time).

3) Assuming the firm has only two electricians and four carpenters. Determine if the initial schedule is feasible. If the initial schedule is not feasible, develop a feasible schedule using the sequential heuristic method. Use the following priority rules a time-phased resource utilization showing resource requirements on a o . 1. Earliest start time 2. Minimum float 3. Shortest duration.
