You need the Rutschmann paper for Part 1 and 2 of the assignment

1) Her luminance values (of the stimuli and background) to calculate her Michelson contrast

2a, b) Her stimulus size (she already calculated it) BTW you know that the value with the degree sign [a raised circle] is degrees V.A., but what is the apostrophe ' ? It means 'minutes of arc' where there are 60 minutes per degree. You also what to say how far apart her lights were using the center one as a reference.

From our experiment you need:

3a) our Michelson contrast

3b) the diameter of our dots in V.A.

3c) how far apart our dots were in V.A. using the center one as reference.

From your R output: (using the commands up to and including

"title(main = "PUT YOUR NAME AND ID IN HERE")"

4a) the plot with logistic fits (the one with R and L as the plot symbols and the pink and green boxes)

4b) for the "left fit line", your PSE/PSS

4c) for the "left fit line", your JND (sum the absolute values for the

IU at .25 and .75 and divide by 2)

4d) PSE for 'right fit line'

4e) JND for 'right fit line'

From the rest of the R output: (using "FitTimingJudgments" )

5a) the PSE/PSS for your 'left' data

5b) the JND for your 'left' data

5c) the PSE/PSS for your 'right' data

5d) the JND for your 'right' data

5e) the 2 plots with these values

6) Then compare the PSE and JND from the two different fitting methods.

Do the two fitting methods produce similar results: If the left and right data in part 4 overlap (similar PSS and JND) is this true in part 5? Or if one graph is shifted from the other in part 4, is it the same in part 5?

7ab) Now, we should take a look at our group data.

SOA side p("center1st") side p("center 1st")

-10 L 0.0182 R 0.0371

-6 L 0.0333 R 0.0757

-4 L 0.1007 R 0.0947

-3 L 0.1644 R 0.2083

-2 L 0.3311 R 0.3356

-1 L 0.4477 R 0.4379

+0 L 0.5424 R 0.5773

+1 L 0.6091 R 0.6303

+2 L 0.6538 R 0.7583

+3 L 0.7167 R 0.7894

+4 L 0.8371 R 0.8530

+6 L 0.8690 R 0.9386

+10 L 0.9470 R 0.9296

Well, actually a graph would help. Plot this in a similar size to the graph in 4a and see if your results look like the group results. Again, this is 'by eyeball' noting differences and similarities.

4) for those who haven't done the computations/graphing in R, we found it took at least an hour to sort out different computer configurations and file locations and complete all the work. You will need to use the program below (copy and paste into a file called 2lines.r) and modify the read.table() commands to point to your files.

Need help with analysis and solution of instructions. All data attached. Thanks.
